In this project I used magazine pieces to create my own magazine advertisement. The objective was to describe elements and principles of design. My advertisement expressed color and balance. To do this project I needed magazines, scissors, glue, construction paper, crayons and creativity. I had to cut images out of a magazine to correspond with the theme of my ad. This ad is for a product, Saxenda. It advertised the use of Saxenda to lose weight. I learned how to use line, color, balance, and other principles and elements of design. I also learned how to scan and transfer my project to put it on my website.
Flyer Project
In this project I was required to make three flyer advertisements. One had to be created using a template the second had to be created without a template in landscape form and the third flyer had to be a recreation of the first or second but in black and white. All the flyers had to represent color, line and balance and had to be designed in a different way. The first flyer was advertising a specific event and in this case it was a fourth of July party. The second flyer had to be a Halloween themed event and mine was a haunted hayride. For the third one I chose to recreate my first flyer in black and white with a different format. I used pictures and different designs in each flyer to successfully market the information. In this project I learned how to use publisher and the templates.
Tri-Fold Brochure Project
In this project I had to make a tri-fold brochure which consisted of a self-portrait that I edited in Photoshop. I used different tools to get my desired look. I then had to pick a business and make a tri-fold brochure based on my portrait and business. I chose a hair salon and named it "Haley's Hair Salon". With my portrait I had to put a biography and details about my business. I continued to give attention to the elements and principles of design in my work. I focused on demographic, hierarchy of text, and unsolicited advertising. During this project I learned how to use MS Publisher and different tools used to change my self portrait.
Greeting Card
In this Project I was required to make a greeting card from a celebrity to myself. I decided to make a birthday card from Blake Lively to myself. I had to edit a picture of the celebrity I used 5 times. To edit the picture of Blake Lively in Photoshop, I used the color replacement tool to make her eyes purple, the grain filter to add texture, the brightness tool, and then used two different adjustments to change the color of the picture to purple. I learned how to use the greeting card templates.
Thayer Street Brochure
This project consisted of going on a field trip to Thayer Street. We were assigned a topic and in this case mine was fine dining. At the field trip we had to take pictures and find information about our topic. My pictures included Kabob and Curry, Skewers, Johnny Rockets, Antonio's, and Baja's. We were then required to make a brochure about our topic. Each picture included had to be edited on Photoshop. I added borders to my pictures to make it more appealing. I then added information about the restaurants. A new skill we learned was making our own text. I added polka dots to a couple of words to add variety and apply the new skill I was taught.
